Meet the Team

At Care for the Wild we have a dedicated team with extensive experience within the animal welfare and wildlife sector. All of the team care passionately about helping to Rescue, Protect and Defend wildlife around the globe.

Karen Pettman: Project Manager 

Karen joined Care for the Wild in October 2008, having worked for a number of UK charities including St John Ambulance and the Army Benevolent Fund. Her passion for travel is fuelled by seeing the world’s wildlife in its natural habitat. In her spare time, she also enjoys walking, reading, cooking and gardening.

 

Nigel Palmer: Fundraising Manager

Nigel joined Care for the Wild in 2011 and has been a professional fundraiser for over 10 years having previously worked for the Wildlife Trust and horticultural charity Perennial. He is a full member of the Institute of Fundraising. In addition to a passion for wildlife and conservation, he also enjoys gardening, walking, motorcycling and spending time with his family.

 

Dominic Dyer: Policy Advisor (Contracted)

Dominic has previously been a Care for the Wild Trustee for around seven years, and throughout 2011 served as Executive Chair for the charity. His skills and interests are conservation, wildlife, agriculture and travel, and he has travelled overseas to deliver numerous talks on aspects of the above.

 

 

Projects and Operational Support Team

Kim Welton: Finance Officer

Kim has been with Care for the Wild since early 1996, first as a volunteer, then in late 1996 becoming a full member of staff. She loves her garden and grows insect loving plants to encourage wildlife in. Before joining the charity, Kim gained her experience in finance working in the private sector.

 

 

Tarnya Knight: Project Support Assistant

Tarnya has been with Care for the Wild for 16 years, having previous worked in the private sector. Outside of work Tarnya spends many hours volunteering to help rescue injured or abandoned wildlife and domestic animals, and is our in house UK Wildlife Ambassador.

 

 

Steve Hilling: Graphic Designer (Part Time)

Steve has been working for Care for the Wild as a graphic designer since 1991 after graduating from Northbrook College of Art and Design, and is our longest serving team member. His interests include music, photography, sport and travel.
