Do something today that really makes a difference!

We update and add new opportunities to this section regularly but it is not exhaustive – we are always happy to discuss your interests, personal skills and talents to see how you may be able to support us.

Current Available Roles:

Volunteer Drivers

We are looking for Volunteer Drivers to assist with the collection of injured wildlife, primarily from Veterinary surgeries in the Horsham and Crawley area to our Horsham office. We also need drivers prepared to collect and/or deliver wildlife to a rescue centre near Tunbridge Wells (approx. 33 miles from Horsham)

No experience necessary but a love of wildlife is. The birds and animals will be in travel boxes and will not require attention during transport. Our hope is to assemble a team of drivers who collectively can cover throughout the week including weekends by committing to a regular time slot although flexibility is required due to the ad hoc nature of the work.

Interested – please contact:  or call 01403 249832.

Fundraisers

We are looking for enthusiastic and outgoing wildlife lovers to form a team of committed fundraisers.

No previous experience is necessary and full guidance and all the collection materials, leaflets, branded badges and T shirts will be provided. Hours are flexible and all location bookings will be made by the charity initially.

This is a great way to have some fun with friends whilst making a real difference to sick, injured or orphaned wildlife in need. Funds raised will directly support the charities projects.

If you can spare a few hours why not join our Sussex collections and marketing team?  Not in Sussex? We still want to hear from you! Please do get in touch as we would love to form local groups in every area of the UK – you could be the catalyst we need.

Interested – please contact:  or call 01403 249832.

Campaigns and Press Volunteer(s)

We would like to hear from skilled researchers and writers with a passion for animals to build our contact base, campaign materials and engage for change.

This post would require a commitment of at least 1 day per week. Please send a CV for this post in order for us to assess suitability. Support will be provided.

In addition we would appreciate flexibility to cover other tasks as required that could include packing of our online shop orders and animal adoption packs. All of this help means more of our money can go towards the animals we help!

Interested – please contact:  or call 01403 249832.

Collections Coordinator(s)

We are seeking reliable and organised volunteers in the south east region to coordinate local collection boxes across their home town. This would involve building up local businesses (newspaper shops, independent stores, and offices etc.) to regularly support us through displaying a Care for the Wild collections box to raise funds for animals in need.

Overall management of the timely and logged collection of donations will be the coordinators responsibility but may involve management of a group of local collectors on a rota. Full support, materials and training will be provided.

For this the co-ordinator role would require a few days per month for collection and logging and can be fit around your schedule. All of this help means more of our money can go towards the animals we help!

Interested – please contact:  or call 01403 249832.

Shows and Events Volunteer(s)

This is an ideal way to volunteer with friends or colleagues or to meet like-minded people. No formal skills are required, however you should feel comfortable meeting and serving the public. In addition to representing the charity to our supporters you must be able to set up or break down the stand if required. Cash and information handling are part of the role and charity guidelines must be followed in relation to this.

Shows are generally on weekends and run from 10am to 6pm as a guide. Stalls may also be booked at local events, please contact us with details. Shows can be located anywhere but are usually around the South East and London region.

We aim to operate shifts of between two and three hours on the stand, subject to the numbers of people available to help. Volunteers will receive free tickets or passes to the show and are welcome to enjoy the event before or after their agreed shift.

2014 Dates:

  • 7th December – Animal Aid Christmas Fayre, 10am – 5pm, Kensington Town Hall, London

Interested – please contact:  or call 01403 249832.

Handyperson(s)

We are looking for a Handyperson who would be happy to carry out small routine maintenance tasks around the office in Brighton Road. This may include tasks such as changing lamps, putting pictures or noticeboards onto walls, painting and other general tasks. Times are flexible and could be a set time each week to a call when needed. This is to be agreed with the applicant.

Interested – please contact:  or call 01403 249832.

Gardener(s)

We are looking for a pool of volunteer gardeners to take on our wildlife friendly garden, fill planters, and offer on-going support with weeding, maintenance and watering. You don’t need to be an expert, you just need to have some availability in the week and keen to get hands-on with guidance from our resident gardener. Times are flexible.

Interested – please contact:  or call 01403 249832.
